Camping Tents

Camping this spring? Prepare for your trip with a brand-new camping tent! Right now, you can find excellent deals on the best camping tents. Buying your tent well in advance will see you not only a significant savings but a better selection of tents to choose from. The top camping tent models come from manufacturers like Coleman, Marmot, Alps, REI and Ozark Trail. But before you start looking around, be sure you know what you are getting for your money. You want to consider size, setup, versatility, and durability among other things. If you need a camping tent, read on to learn more about what to look for in a camping tent and learn about the best options for your purposes.

Above all, shop for a tent that best suits your need. If you are going backpacking, you are going to want a tent that is small and lightweight like the Marmot Crane Creek Backpacking and Camping Tent(only $177.99 on Amazon). It weighs only 6lbs. The tent is waterproof and features overhead compartments for storage. Another great backpacking tent is the REI Half Dome 1 Plus for just $179.99 at REI with free shipping. These tents also offer quick setup and dismantling. Capacity is usually between one to three.

For reserved camping spots, many people go with a standard dome tent. These tents usually fit around four to six people and you usually can't stand up on them. The ALPS Mountaineering Lynx Four-Person Tent is one such tent that features two doorways, storage pockets, and aluminum poles. While usually $250, this tent is now only $123 on Amazon. A more luxurious tent, the Marmot Limestone four-person tent leaves a little more headspace, greater durability and it's fully waterproof too. It also features double doors. Normally $370, you can get the Lynx tent for just $325 on Amazon. If you are on a budget or only go camping seldomly, the Coleman 4 Sundome is a bargain - only $52.93 at Walmart. On the downside, its made of cheaper materials and doesn't offer as much ventilation.

Larger family-size tents can fit up to eight people. The Coleman Elite Montana tent for instance can fit up to three queen-sized mattresses. The modified dome structure allows for more space and makes set-up simple. Like other Coleman tents, it features a WeatherTec system that keeps out rain and moisture. The regular tent is as low as $127.42, while a lighted model is $166.72. Another Coleman tent, the Coleman 8-Person Instant Family Tent can be setup in just 60 seconds. Large screens keep the bugs out and WeatherTec keeps the water out. Get it for just $244.

Multi-room tents are a great option when you want to lounge in your tent and escape the bugs for a while. The Coleman Steel Creek Fast Pitch Dome Tent with Screen Room features a separate area for a couple lounge chairs. The WeatherTec system keeps the interior dry. Get it on Amazon for as low as $118.93, down from $129.99. The Coleman WeatherMaster 6-Person Tent with Screen Room is $191 and fits two queen-size mattresses.

Taking the multi-room tent idea one step further, cabin styled tents offer luxurious space and quality construction. On the downside, they are a little bulkier, heavier and more difficult to set-up. Ozark Trail offers some of the best cabin style tents out there at a reasonable cost. The Ozark Trail 8-Person Family Cabin Tent w/ Screen Porch is only $159 at Walmart. The screen porch allows for open-air lounging without the worry of insects. It's tall enough to stand and walk around in. If you want even more space, the Ozark Trail 10-Person 3-Room Vacation Tent is a great deal for $105 at Walmart. Like the Family Cabin tent, this tent features plenty of room to stand, fantastic ventilation, and terrific value. Set-up will require some patience but after that's out of the way, you'll have a little home away from home.
